Ebook About
Diagnostic tests are unable to find the cause of symptoms in at least half of all medical patients, most of whom are ill because of hidden stresses. Dr. David Clarke has done pioneering work with over 7,000 of these patients, often sent to him as a last resort.  In plain language he describes the major types of stress and explains steps for treatment with a range of effective techniques. Case histories that read like medical mysteries illustrate the concepts and make them easy to apply. This significant book offers real solutions to put a stop to the stress illness epidemic.

Book They Can't Find Anything Wrong: 7 Keys to Understanding, Treating, and Healing Stress Illness Review :

This is a good companion to the books of John Sarno, MD. though it is quite different in some ways. For example, Sarno spends much more time with the musculoskeletal symptoms he labels TMS or Tension Mysositis Syndrome, while Dr Clarke emphasizes everything else, what Sarno would call TMS Equivalents. Another difference is that Dr Clarke views anxiety and depression in the conventional way, as biochemical diseases, while Sarno would say they could also be TMS Equivalents because they too operate as distractions from disturbing emotions in the unconscious.I didn't mention Howard Schubiner, MD, but he also takes a slightly different approach. His term for TMS would be "neural pathway pain" and he posits a different mechanism from Sarno, eg, the pain becomes a learned response that must be gradually unlearned.Overall, I would say Dr Clarke's view is more conservative and conventional than Dr Sarno's, but he is on the same track in that he, unlike the majority of conventional practitioners, believes that the brain can and does cause sickness and health in the body. If I have a criticism of Dr Clarke, it would be that he never once mentions Dr Sarno, who is really the pioneer in this field. At the least, he should be acknowledged.
I love this book! I've read many books about mind-body illnesses. This is one of my favorites. He talks about case histories, and how it sometimes takes time to uncover and acknowledge long-standing, underlying emotional issues. He is very clear about his process and methodology. About distinguishing between physical causes and emotional stress. I like too, that he calls it mind body stress. "Stress" is something that most people understand and can relate to. Unacknowledged stress is often emotional distress, waiting to be acknowledged and set free.It was an easy read and got to it's points quickly, and was balanced with the authors reasoning process and how he applied it to a variety of patients in diverse situations. I had a debilitating pain in my hip, that was growing steadily worse. Now the pain has been reduced by 80 to 90 percent, and occurs far less frequently. Using this book has helped me a lot, and I highly recommend it.
